Westchester Spring Bucket List: Must-Do Adventures, Eats, and Experiences

Westchester Spring Bucket List: Must-Do Adventures, Eats, and Experiences

Spring in Westchester is pure magic. After months of bundling up and hibernating, the first warm days feel like an invitation to step outside, breathe in the fresh air, and soak up all the beauty this county has to offer. There’s nothing quite like seeing the cherry blossoms burst into bloom or sipping a cocktail al fresco as the sun sets over the Long Island Sound. Whether you’re craving outdoor adventures, delicious food, or leisurely weekend plans, this Westchester Spring Bucket List has you covered.

Outdoor Adventures

Hiking at Marshlands Conservancy – One way to shake off the winter blues is by taking a long, peaceful hike at Marshlands Conservancy in Rye. With 147 acres of untouched beauty, it’s the perfect spot for a morning walk with coffee in hand (or a little bird-watching if you’re feeling extra in tune with nature).

Kayaking or Paddleboarding at Harbor Island Park – Nothing says “hello, spring” like getting out on the water. Rent a kayak or paddleboard in Mamaroneck and glide across the Long Island Sound. Bonus points if you time it for sunset, truly breathtaking!

Strolling through Manor Park – If you’re looking for a more leisurely outing, Manor Park in Larchmont is a dream. The walking paths wind along the water, the landscaping is stunning, and it’s just the right amount of peaceful and picturesque.

Biking the Shore Road Loop to City Island – Feeling a little more ambitious? Take a scenic bike ride along the coastline, ending in the Bronx’s charming City Island. Reward yourself with a seafood feast when you get there, you earned it.

Parks & Gardens

Cherry Blossoms at Glen Island Park – Every spring, Glen Island Park in New Rochelle transforms into the perfect cherry blossom wonderland. Trust me, it’s worth a visit (and the perfect excuse to refresh your Instagram feed).

Exploring Untermyer Gardens – If you haven’t been to Untermyer Gardens in Yonkers yet, drop everything and go. It’s like stepping into a European fairy tale walled gardens, intricate architecture, and the Hudson River as a backdrop. Stunning.

Walking through Edith G. Read Wildlife Sanctuary – This peaceful retreat in Rye is perfect for a quiet morning walk. It’s home to a variety of bird species, and if you bring binoculars, you might spot some rare ones!

Food & Drink

Brunch at The Granola Bar or Stanz Café – Weekend brunch is practically a sport in Westchester, and these two spots in Larchmont never disappoint. Order the avocado toast at The Granola Bar or a cozy latte at Stanz Café.

Gus’ Seafood New York – Spring = seafood season. Head to Gus’ Seafood for the freshest lobster and seafood dishes. It’s one of those places that just feels like a family homestyle meal every time.

Spring Cocktails at Town House – A warm evening, a chic outdoor patio, and a perfectly crafted cocktail? Yes, please. Town House in New Rochelle is my go-to for seasonal drinks that are almost too pretty to sip. Almost.

Ice Cream at Longford’s Own-Made Ice Cream – No spring is complete without a few indulgent ice cream runs. Longford’s in Rye makes their flavors from scratch, and you can taste the difference.

Festivals & Markets

Larchmont Farmers’ Market – Strolling through a farmers’ market on a sunny Saturday morning is my happy place. The Larchmont Farmers’ Market has the best local produce, fresh flowers, and artisanal goodies. Check the 2025 schedule so you don’t miss it!

Rye Sidewalk Sale – I love any excuse to shop, and this annual sale is a must. Local boutiques, seasonal discounts, and a festive atmosphere? Count me in.

Spring Wine Tasting at Wine Bazaar – If you’re a wine lover (or just looking for a fun night out), Wine Bazaar in New Rochelle hosts tastings where you can sample a curated selection of wines. Call ahead for event details!

Relaxing & Leisure

Spa Day at Addison Street Spa – Because we all deserve a little pampering. Book a massage or a facial at Addison Street Spa in Larchmont and let all the winter stress melt away.

Shopping in Larchmont Village – A leisurely afternoon of boutique shopping in Larchmont is always a good idea. There’s something about small-town charm and unique finds that makes it so much more fun than a mall.

Special Events

Playland’s Historical Ferry Tour – If you love local history, you’ll want to check this out. Playland is launching a new historical ferry tour along Westchester’s Sound Shore, plus family-friendly programming like fireworks and concerts. Perfect for a spring weekend!

Spring Selects Hockey Program – For sports fans (or if you have little ones who love the ice), Sound Shore’s Spring Selects Hockey Program offers a great way to develop skills and stay active all season.

Spring in Westchester is all about fresh air, fresh flavors, and fresh experiences. Whether you’re hiking through a nature preserve, sipping a cocktail in the sun, or exploring a charming local market, there’s no shortage of ways to make the most of the season. So grab your sunglasses, get outside, and start crossing things off your bucket list!
