If you have lived in Scarsdale for more than a season, you already know the summer beats. Pool, fireworks, sidewalk sale, market. What you may not have registered yet is that the Village quietly reordered the sequence this year, and Sunday morning on Chase Road is now doing work it did not do in 2024.
The Farmers Market has been on Spencer Place for a few seasons. The change in 2026 is that it is no longer just a market. A formal partnership between the Village of Scarsdale, Destination Scarsdale, and Down to Earth Markets now runs the Sunday program, with the Village providing public space and municipal support while Down to Earth handles vendor operations and community engagement. That sounds like an administrative detail. In practice, it is the reason your Sunday plans have quietly rearranged themselves around a two-block stretch of downtown.
The Thesis, Stated Plainly
Sunday from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM is now the busiest sanctioned civic moment of the Scarsdale week, and the surrounding downtown has been re-plumbed to catch the foot traffic. If you treat it as a produce run, you are missing about eighty percent of what is on offer between the market tents and the restaurants a block away.
What Actually Changed Between 2024 and Now
The market opened for its third season on May 3 with a ribbon-cutting at Spencer Place and Chase Road, and it runs every Sunday through November 22. The hours settled at 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM in downtown Scarsdale through November.
The Destination Scarsdale layer is the newer piece. Held alongside the Farmers Market, it features interactive activations hosted by Scarsdale Business Alliance members, from wellness experiences and demonstrations to hands-on family activities, and organizers describe it as part farmers market, part community festival, and part local business showcase. Typical weekly attendance ranges from 500 to 750 visitors, with families, shoppers, and community members exploring throughout the morning.
That number matters. Five hundred to seven hundred and fifty people is roughly the crowd a well-attended school play draws. Every Sunday. On one block.
The Timing That Governs Everything Else

Vendor setup runs from 8:45 to 9:15 AM, activation hours are 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM, and Destination Scarsdale is rain or shine unless the Village or the market cancels. The narrow window worth planning around is 10:00 to 11:30, when the market is full, the SBA activations are live, and the restaurants a block away have not yet filled up with the brunch overflow.
The Vendors Worth Building a Morning Around
Opening day already told you what the season looks like. A representative slice from the May 3 lineup:
- Wave Hill Breads, an artisan micro-bakery featuring hand-shaped loaves made with stone-ground grains
- Empabake, serving a lighter, baked-not-fried twist on traditional empanadas
- Blissful Table, a White Plains-based small-batch business offering tahini and desserts
- Agape Premium LLC, providing extra virgin olive oil under the slogan "The Fresher The Better"
- The Copper Faucet Soap Company, featuring handcrafted soaps, serums, and essential oils
- Casa Cherrywood Carvings, showcasing wooden knives, boards, and kitchen utilities
- Liquid Fables, providing customizable packs of craft canned cocktails
A useful thing to understand about the SBA side of the tent line. Sales are not permitted at Destination Scarsdale activation booths because of the Village's agreement with Down to Earth Markets, so SBA participants distribute samples, coupons, or promotional giveaways instead. If a Scarsdale storefront is out on Chase Road on a given Sunday, the goal is to get you to walk over to the actual shop. Which is the entire structural point.
One more practical note for households that use them. SNAP EBT is welcome, Fresh Connect checks double SNAP by up to $50 per day, and Farmers Market Nutrition Program coupons issued by WIC and Seniors' centers can be used at the farm stands from June through November.
Where to Sit Down After
The Destination Scarsdale format has quietly turned Sunday mid-day into a natural meal moment, and there are three walkable options that repay the timing.
Micheline. At 878 Scarsdale Avenue, a French bistro from Eleven Madison Park alum and Scarsdale native Jonathan Aubrey. Brunch is served Sundays and includes options like the Challah French Toast and a French Omelette. If you have not been since it opened, this is the reservation to make first.
Aperiti. An Italian osteria and pizzeria in the heart of Scarsdale that sources from farmers and artisans across Italy. Works for the family group that has just spent an hour weaving through tents and needs something the kids will eat.
Sapori of Scarsdale. Dinner-only most weeks. Current posted hours are Mon through Fri 5:00 to 9:30 PM, Sat 5:00 to 10:30 PM, and Sun 4:00 to 9:00 PM. Worth remembering when the Sunday market run turns into a longer downtown day and you want a 4 PM landing pad.
The 325th Overlay
The market alone did not reshape Sunday. The Village's 325th anniversary did the rest. Over 500 people turned out on Sunday, May 31 to celebrate the Village's 325th birthday, the free coloring books were gone two hours in, and families climbed into fire trucks, decorated cupcakes, played arcade games, and made 325th picture frames while a DJ played in Chase Park.
Two data points from that morning that tell you what the new Sunday format is actually doing to Village Center commerce. The empanada vendor sold a record 425 empanadas and the cookie vendor broke their all-time sales record. And a new Scarsdale flag, the result of a design contest won by the mother-son team of Ling Zhu and Entong Deng, was unfurled on the flagpole to mark the event. If you have not seen it flying yet, that is the flag on the Village pole for the rest of the year.
Parking, Told Honestly
The single most common Sunday-morning complaint from residents who drive in from Fox Meadow, Heathcote, or Quaker Ridge is parking friction, and it is almost always solvable with a two-minute change of plan.
Parking is free on Sundays, with spaces in the Christie Place Garage at 64 East Parkway, though public parking is prohibited in the market area Sundays from 7 AM to 3 PM for vendor setup and breakdown.
A few things that follow from that:
- If you can walk in from home in fifteen minutes or less, walking beats driving. The market footprint is closed to parking for eight hours around it.
- Christie Place is the answer when you are driving. On-street spots inside the market perimeter are not an option even when they look open.
- Arrive before 9:45 AM if you want to move through vendors without shoulder traffic. After 10:30 the block behaves like a crowd, not a market.
What Is Left on the Calendar Between Now and November 22
The Sidewalk Sale wrapped a few days ago. The Scarsdale Business Alliance ran its annual Summer Sidewalk Sale from Thursday, July 30 through Saturday, August 1 in the Village Center, with outdoor shopping and special deals from local merchants and visiting vendors, and free family activities including music and children's entertainment on Saturday, August 1 from 10 AM to 2 PM. If you missed it, use the next Sunday market as the reintroduction. The tenant mix on Chase Road right now is roughly what you saw on the sidewalks last weekend.
From here, the Sunday cadence carries the fall. Sixteen more Sundays sit between August and the market's November 22 close. Peak stone fruit and corn are already in. The apple, squash, and cider stretch is what makes September and October the two best market months of the year for anyone cooking at home. The 325th programming will keep threading through activations into the fall, which is the reason Destination Scarsdale exists as a year-round SBA program rather than a one-summer stunt.
A last note on drivers. The Village of Scarsdale began its 2026 summer road paving program in late July, with road milling, surface preparation, and paving operations taking place on various Village streets through mid-August, weather permitting. If a familiar Sunday route into the Village Center is closed, that is why. Give yourself an extra ten minutes through mid-August, and check the Village site the night before if your usual approach is Popham or Post Road.
